YOUR ANAESTHETIC
WHAT TO EXPECT
My goal is to provide you with a safe, smooth, and comfortable surgical experience. A key part of achieving this is preparation — both from my side and yours.
Before your procedure, I’ll ask you to share details about:
- Your medical history
- Current medications and allergies
- Any previous anaesthetic experiences
- Any concerns or expectations you may have
THE ANAESTHETIC JOURNEY
Anaesthesia typically involves three phases:
- Preparation - This includes a pre-operative assessment where we review your health information, discuss the anaesthetic plan, and answer any questions you may have. It may take place via phone or in person before the day of surgery
- The Anaesthetic - Depending on your procedure and health status, you may receive general anaesthesia, regional anaesthesia (nerve block), sedation, or a combination. Throughout the operation, I will closely monitor your vital signs to ensure your safety and comfort.
- After Surgery - You’ll be taken to the recovery room where your condition will be monitored as you wake up. Most patients feel drowsy initially but become more alert over time. Pain relief will be managed proactively, and I’ll ensure you are as comfortable as possible before discharge or transfer to a ward
