Dr Neil Vanza is a Specialist Anaesthetist working in public and private practice across Sydney, Australia. His clinical interests include regional anaesthesia, orthopaedic surgery, trauma, obstetrics, oncology, ophthalmic surgery, and perioperative pain management.

He has a particular expertise in ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia (nerve blocks), which can enhance patient comfort, reduce postoperative pain, and support recovery after surgery.

Dr Vanza graduated with Honours from the University of New South Wales in 2003. He completed his anaesthetic training at St George Hospital and was awarded Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) in 2013 following a fellowship year at Concord Hospital.
He subsequently completed advanced fellowship training in regional anaesthesia and trauma anaesthesia at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, Canada — home to one of North America’s largest trauma and cancer centres. During this fellowship he developed advanced skills in ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia and complex perioperative care.

Teaching remains an important part of Dr Vanza’s professional practice. He has coordinated several Regional Anaesthesia Workshops at the ANZCA Annual Scientific Meeting and is currently the regional anaesthesia supervisor for anaesthesia trainees at St George Public Hospital.

Outside medicine, Neil is a marathon runner and enjoys yoga, travel, and spending time with his wife and two children.
