​THYROID SURGERY

Thyroid surgery is performed under a general anaesthetic. A breathing tube is inserted into the trachea (wind pipe) for all general anaesthetics. For thyroid surgery a special vocal cord monitoring tube is used. Occasionally this my increase the incidence of a sore throat after surgery. Pain is usually mild to moderate and well controlled on oral (tablet) pain killers.
