AFTER YOUR ANAESTHETIC
You will receive pain relief tailored to your surgery. If stronger medication is required, a prescription will be provided for you to take home.
You may feel drowsy or sore after the procedure. Recovery time varies depending on the type of surgery performed.
Getting Home Safely
- You must arrange for a friend or relative to take you home
- Unaccompanied travel by taxi or rideshare is unsafe and does not meet day surgery discharge guidelines
- You must have a responsible adult stay with you overnight if you are discharged the same day
- If this is not possible, an overnight hospital stay can be arranged
For the First 24 Hours After General Anaesthesia:You must not:
- Drive a car
- Drink alcohol
- Sign legal or important documents
- Travel alone
- Use hazardous machinery or tools
- Engage in strenuous activity, heavy lifting, or sport
