AFTER YOUR ANAESTHETIC

You will receive pain relief tailored to your surgery. If stronger medication is required, a prescription will be provided for you to take home.
You may feel drowsy or sore after the procedure. Recovery time varies depending on the type of surgery performed.

Getting Home Safely
  • You must arrange for a friend or relative to take you home
  • Unaccompanied travel by taxi or rideshare is unsafe and does not meet day surgery discharge guidelines
  • You must have a responsible adult stay with you overnight if you are discharged the same day
  • If this is not possible, an overnight hospital stay can be arranged

Eating and DrinkingYou may eat and drink as you feel able. If you experience nausea, start with clear fluids or light food and gradually return to your normal diet.
